Soft pretzels are a fun snack -- fun to make and fun to eat.
Serves: 24 pretzels
- 1 (1/4-ounce) package dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- Coarse salt
- Preheat oven to 425°.
- In large metal bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add salt, sugar, and flour. Knead until smooth.
- Cut dough into small pieces, about 1" in diameter. Roll into long skinny strips. Twist into pretzel shapes.
- Place pretzels onto greased cookie sheet. Brush with egg and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
