Soft Pretzels

Soft pretzels are a fun snack -- fun to make and fun to eat.

Serves: 24 pretzels


  • 1 (1/4-ounce) package dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt

  1. Preheat oven to 425°.
  2. In large metal bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add salt, sugar, and flour. Knead until smooth.
  3. Cut dough into small pieces, about 1" in diameter. Roll into long skinny strips. Twist into pretzel shapes.
  4. Place pretzels onto greased cookie sheet. Brush with egg and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
