Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Chocolate oatmeal cookes are a classic that should be in every cook's repertoire.

Serves: 6 dozen cookies


  • 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • l egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups uncooked oats
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Cream margarine and sugars.
  3. Add egg, vanilla, flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Blend well.
  4. Stir in oats and chocolate chips.
  5. Drop batter by teaspoon-fills onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake 8 minutes. Cool.
