Picadillo (Castilian Hash)
This Spanish-inspired dish incorporates nuts and raisins with ground meat -- a surprisingly good combination.
Serves: Serves: 6 (3/4 cup)
Ingredients:
- 16 ounces ground 90% lean turkey or beef
- 1 3/4 cups (one 14 1/2-ounce can) Swanson Beef Broth
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 1/2 cups (7.5 ounces) diced raw potatoes
- 1 cup (one 8-ounce can) Hunt's Tomato Sauce
- 1 tablespoon (1/4 ounce) chopped almonds
- 3 tablespoons raisins
- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar Twin
- 1 tablespoon chili seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon dried minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
Directions:
- In a large skillet, combine meat and beef broth. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes or until meat is browned, stirring often.
- Add onion, potatoes, and tomato sauce. Mix well to combine.
- Stir in almonds, raisins, Brown Sugar Twin, chili seasoning, garlic, and parsley flakes.
- Continue cooking for 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender, stirring often.
