Aloha ''Steaks'' with Island Sauce
These sweet and tangy burgers may not convince you that you're in Hawaii, but their flavor is irresistible!
Serves: Serves: 6
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (one 8-ounce can) crushed pineapple, packed in fruit juice, drained, and 1/4 cup liquid reserved
- 6 tablespoons (P/2 ounces) dried fine bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
- 1 cup (one 8-ounce can) Hunt's Tomato Sauce ft
- 16 ounces ground 90% lean turkey or beef
- 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar Twin
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine drained pineapple, bread crumbs, onion flakes, and 1/4 cup tomato sauce. Add meat. Mix well to combine.
- Using a 1/3-cup measuring cup as a guide, form into 6 patties. Place patties in a large skillet sprayed with butter-flavored cooking spray. Brown patties about 5 minutes on each side.
In a medium bowl, combine remaining 3/4 cup tomato sauce, reserved pineapple juice, Brown Sugar Twin, Worcestershire sauce, onion flakes, and parsley flakes. Spoon mixture evenly over browned patties. - Lower heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes. When serving, evenly spoon any remaining sauce over top of "steaks."
