Romaine Salad with Honey-Vinegar Dressing

This salad recipe partners romaine lettuce with walnuts, oranges, and balsamic vinegar, for a range of contrasting flavors.

  • 3/8 cup honey
  • 3/8 cup balsamic vinegar
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 pound romaine lettuce, washed, dried and separated
  • 3 navel oranges, peeled and segmented
  • 3 tablespoons chopped walnuts

  • Walnuts are rich in alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid that has been shown to lower the risk of heart disease. They also contain ellagic acid, a compound that reduces the risk of heart disease by reducing the formation of artery-clogging plaque.
