Spiced Red Cabbage
Apple, cloves, and brown sugar compliment cabbage in this quick fall or winter side dish.
Serves: serves 4
- 1 small red cabbage
- 1 large cooking apple, peeled and sliced in segments
- 3 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 10 whole cloves
- salt and pepper
- 1-2 tsp brown sugar
- Wash and shred the cabbage and put it in a saucepan with the apple, red wine vinegar, cloves, and salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle with 2-3 tablespoons of water, add the brown sugar, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes over medium-low heat.
